FlipMyBook privacy policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
This policy applies to the FlipMyBook app for Android, published on Google Play by FlipMyBook.
FlipMyBook collects no personal data. The app has no Internet access. It sends nothing off your device, to the developer or to anyone else.
What the app does not do
- It requires no account or sign-up.
- It shows no ads and contains no analytics or tracking tools.
- It does not request Internet access and makes no network connection.
- It does not use the advertising ID.
- The only permission you need to grant is microphone access.
Microphone
- The microphone is only used to record a sound for an animation, when you start a recording. Android asks for the permission the first time you record. You can refuse it, or withdraw it later in the device settings. Without it, the rest of the app works, including importing sounds.
- A recording stops when you stop it, or by itself, for example at the end of the animation for background music. Recording also stops when the app goes into the background. The microphone is never used in the background.
- The recorded sound becomes the background music or one of the sounds of the animation. It is kept in the animation, on your device, and is sent nowhere.
Data kept on your device
The app keeps the following in its private storage, which other apps cannot read.
- Your animations, with their music and sounds.
- When the app goes into the background with an unsaved animation, it writes a recovery copy of it. This copy is deleted when you save the animation or discard its changes. If the app stops in the meantime, the copy is offered to you at the next start. It is kept until you resume or delete it.
- Your settings: the language, if you chose one other than the system language, and the tool and display settings (shape, pattern, manga effects, onion skin, timeline position and scale).
- Temporary copies of the files you open, import, export or share, in the app’s cache. They are deleted after use (once the file is read, once the exported file is delivered, at the next share for a shared copy), or at a later start of the app.
The app does not transmit this data.
Information read on the device to warn you
- The device’s total RAM. The app compares it with the memory an animation would take. It asks you before opening an animation, or adding a frame or a layer to it, when the animation would take more than 30% of it.
- On Android 11 and later, the reason for the app’s last exit, which the system keeps. It is read only at startup, when a recovery copy exists. If the system stopped the app for lack of memory, the recovery question says so.
Both are used while the app runs. They are neither stored nor sent.
Files you open, import, export or share
- An animation (.fmb, .ppm, .kwz) is picked in the system file picker, or opened with FlipMyBook from another app. A sound to import is picked in the file picker. The app only accesses the files you give it.
- The app exports an MP4 video, a GIF or an .fmb file only when you ask. You choose the location in the file picker, or the receiving app in the system share sheet.
- When you share a file, Android passes it to the app you chose. What that app does with it is covered by its own privacy policy.
Retention and deletion
- The data stays on your device for as long as you keep it. The developer has no access to it.
- You can delete an animation in the app. The recovery copy can be deleted when the app offers it at startup.
- Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in the device settings, deletes everything it keeps on the device. Files you exported to your folders remain.
Android backup
Depending on your device settings, Android backup may include the app’s data in your Google account. This service is run by Google under its own terms. You can turn it off in the device settings.
Payment
If you buy the app on Google Play, the payment is processed by Google. FlipMyBook does not receive your payment details.
Children
The app collects no personal data, from children or anyone else.
